Yes to Carrots

Q. I woud like to know how "Yes To Carotts" products fit in the non-toxic, organic, scheme of things.

-Shirley

A. Yes to Carrots has signed the Compact For Safe Cosmetics, however, they have not upheld the agreement (as of 7/2/09) because they have not submitted their products to the Skin Deep databse. Their products seem to be better than a lot of the big mainstream brands, however, they still use synthetic ingredients like "fragrance," imidazolidinyl urea, and sodium coceth sulfate. If their products were in the database, they'd probably score an overall 3 or 4.

Any fragrance can have up to 500 chemicals in it. If you look at the Cosmetic Safety Database any product that contains fragrance ups the toxicity dramatically. This can take a "fairly" non-toxic product from a 2-4 up to an 8.
